Modes

Path A: local

createLocalAdapter() or omit both adapter and publishableKey. No keys. No network. The sample company is Northwind Outfitters.

Path B: Hosted

Publish an app, then pass an adapter that posts { sessionId, question, pageContext } to POST /api/v1/ask?appId= with the publishable key. Bootstrapware stores approved sources and the answers served from them, inside the frozen envelope. The widget does not do this fetch unless that adapter is present.

Path C: BYO

Same app config. Your server implements ask. Knowledge, retrieval, the model, and visitor logs stay on your backend. Live config still needs BYO ($9.99) or Hosted ($19.99).
