BYO vs Hosted

Both modes use the same widget and the same published app config. The difference is where the discussion rows live and which plan live writes need.

• Local, free: browser JSON. No keys. Not a shared backend.
• BYO, $9.99: you store threads, comments, mentions, and read markers. Live config fetch is included. Bootstrapware does not see the text.
• Hosted, $19.99: Bootstrapware stores that text for the workspace. You moderate it. Live writes need this plan, not BYO alone.

Test keys work on either plan, unpaid. A live publishable key on BYO can load config and still cannot create Hosted rows. The error names the Hosted subscription. Moving Hosted to BYO freezes Hosted writes, keeps the rows, and does not start the 30-day delete clock. Cancel Hosted freezes writes and deletes after 30 days of export. Nothing copies itself into your database.

Stack discount applies to the second product at 25% off that product's list and to the third and later at 35% off list. There is no seat charge and no per-comment price.

Implement BYO with the persisted example. Hosted setup is the token route plus appId and the publishable key.
