BYO vs Hosted Feedback

Feedback has its own ladder, not Importer's single $19.99 production tier. Pick the storage model that matches your risk and ops appetite, then match publishable keys and entitlements.

ModePriceWhat Bootstrapware stores
Local / demoFree foreverNothing, createLocalAdapter
BYO$9.99 / workspace / moBoard config only. You implement a FeedbackAdapter; posts stay on your backend.
Hosted$19.99 / workspace / moConfig + posts + votes (plain text). You moderate in the dashboard.

Live entitlements

CallRequirement
Test keys (bsw_test_*)No paid Feedback entitlement
Live config fetchBYO ($9.99) or Hosted ($19.99)
Live Hosted posts / votesHosted ($19.99) only

Publishing a board stores config. It does not skip live entitlement checks. Stack discount (2nd product 25% off that product's list, 3rd+ 35%) is company-wide, see pricing.

When to choose BYO

  • You already have (or want) posts in your database.
  • Compliance prefers customer-owned content.
  • You will wire your own notifications and moderation tooling.

Implement listPosts / createPost / vote / unvote. Bootstrapware webhooks for posts do not fire for your store.

When to choose Hosted

  • You want the inbox, status changes, archive/merge without building storage.
  • You accept plain-text storage and customer moderation responsibility.
  • You want feedback.post_created and feedback.status_changed webhooks.

Cancel Hosted: writes freeze immediately; dashboard JSON export for 30 days; then Hosted posts/votes are deleted.

Resolve order

  1. If adapter is passed → use it (BYO or local).
  2. Else if boardId and publishableKey are set → Hosted.
  3. Else → createLocalAdapter.
